“I am making friends"

#iamstepforward

Christina's story

"I became involved with Step Forward as I needed support around my finances and to improve my digital skills. I also wanted to improve my confidence.

Through my navigator, I accessed support from Citizen Advice who gave me advice around my financial situation and I also attended a digital course which helped improve my self-confidence, so much so that I’ve supported other participants with their learning.

I’m now undertaking a distance learning course in business administration with Middlesbrough College.

My confidence has improved massively and I have been doing a volunteer placement at Grangetown Neighbourhood Centre doing business administration duties. I’ve been going along to the coffee mornings which led to me leading sessions around sewing and making things. I’m now a mentor at the coffee mornings and involved in organising them.

I’ve also attended other courses and Job Club and am looking at possible careers– focusing on what I can do rather than what I can’t."
