Christopher's story

When Christopher came to us he was feeling isolated and was living with Asperger’s and dyspraxia. He was volunteering as an amateur film maker with Beacon Films in Newcastle, learning about film making and delivering workshops to community groups.

His navigator put him in touch with Tees Valley Arts, where he learnt more about film making, and Daisy Chain, where he worked in one of their charity shops as a retail assistant which really boosted his confidence.

Whilst volunteering he was also looking for a job and, with support from his navigator, he got an interview at the Great North Museum in Newcastle. It was his first proper job interview and he was very nervous but his navigator helped him prepare.

To his delight, he was offered the position as film maker for the museum, responsible for making films that will feature on their website and social media and he starts in February!

Chris is very excited as he never thought he would ever get a job that was also his hobby!
