Tony's story

Tony moved from the south after suffering mental ill heath  to be nearer his family, he became isolated and did not go out except to visit his family. His IT skills were not good and he was struggling financially.

His navigator referred him to Mind and other mental health organisations as well as Citizens Advice and Changing Lives.

Tony wanted to start volunteering but kept backing away as he could not cope with being around people. After a few false starts  he started volunteering with the Guisborough Bridge Association at Kemplah Day Centre, looking after the elderly and vulnerable. The feedback has been wonderful and he now feels ready to start a work placement.

Step Forward Tees Valley helped get him a push bike so he could get to his volunteering placement and encouraged him to take IT courses to improve his skills.
